Manuscript Assessment

A manuscript assessment is a wide-angle read of your work — a detailed, honest appraisal designed to support your self-editing and clarify your next steps. It looks at the big-picture elements: plot, structure and pacing; setting; point of view; character development; dialogue and style.

Think of it as a bespoke self-editing guide: it identifies your manuscript's strengths, pinpoints the areas that need attention, and uses specific examples from your own text to show you why. The result is a written report of 2,500 words or more — clear, constructive, and practical.

The assessment also includes a one-hour catch-up call, to be taken within ten working days of handback, where we can go through the report together, talk through ideas, and discuss next steps — including submission strategy if that's where you're headed.

Average turnaround: three to four weeks.
