Line & Copy Editing
Line editing and copy editing are distinct processes, and it's worth being clear about what each one does.
Line editing works at the level of the sentence and the paragraph — it's about readability and flow, the rhythm of the prose, the clarity of the voice. It doesn't check for technical errors in syntax; it asks whether the writing is doing what it's supposed to do, and how well it's doing it.
Copy editing comes later, and is a more technical process: consistency, accuracy, grammar, punctuation, syntax. It's the stage that comes just before publication, once the story itself is settled.
Both are available as standalone services. If you're not sure which one you need, get in touch and we can work it out together.
